Decade-long chronic pain sufferer, certified Integrative Wellness Life Coach, speaker, suicide prevention, and chronic pain patient advocate, Christina H Chororos has parlayed her 14-year, award-winning B2B sales experience, bachelor's degree in education and integrative wellness life coaching certification into entrepreneurship by establishing a company near and dear to her.
Chronic pain. Arguably, one, if not, the most contentious, controversial, divisive, healthcare issue that has plagued the medical community, politicians, and research powerhouses for a considerable amount of time, now threatens to leave 100 million Americans [1] in the aftermath, fighting a losing battle...or "war," if you will. Chronic pain patients, caregivers, families, employers, insurance companies and the medical community at large, are desperate to find a viable solution.
"In 2008, after being diagnosed with a rare form of a common women's reproductive disease, finding a way to manage deep infiltrating endometriosis, and it's catastrophic life-altering byproduct, chronic pain became my central focus. I lost everything- my physical and emotional health, my marriage, friends, and perhaps most importantly, all hope I had for the future I was working towards," Christina explained about her plight with chronic pain.
"What happens to those of us who have seemingly tried everything, eventually succumbing to the reliance on prescribed opiates as a primary pain management coping skill? What happens to those of us who don't want to begin or continue on opiate therapy? Those of us who no longer have the option of opiate therapy thanks to stricter prescribing guidelines? What happens to those who can't afford to enter a chronic pain recovery program either due to finances or work/life commitments? All hope is not lost," Christina reassuringly says.
Sadly, there isn't a definitive, agreed-upon, available panacea for chronic pain. What the medical community has agreed on is single therapies don't have favorable outcomes. Instead, a combination of therapies can improve chronic pain greatly. One of the effective strategies suggested is coaching.
... "pain management on a daily basis takes place outside any health care setting. They must respond to and attempt to control their own pain while they are at home, at work or school, or in their communities as they go about their lives as actively as they can, or think they can. From that vantage point, the assistance provided by health professionals is largely a matter of guiding, coaching and facilitating self-management. The clinician’s approach clearly must be patient-centered—that is, specific to the individual—to be effective. Because skills in guiding and coaching are not specifically emphasized in medical education, few physicians are sufficiently prepared to perform this support role..." [2]
"Though I eventually figured out what worked for me, the significant need for accessible, comprehensive, alternative pain management education, support, and guidance in the chronic pain community has never been more transparent. Therefore, Kairos Chronic Pain Coaching was created to provide chronic pain coaching interventions that improve a chronic pain sufferer's perception and function." Christina stated.
Kairos Chronic Pain Coaching clients will be able to choose from 4 chronic pain wellness programs that cater to preferences in commitment time, one-on-one coaching vs. group coaching, and budget, just to name a few. KCPC offers every client both in-person and/or virtual coaching sessions allowing Christina and her team, the ability to reach a local and nationwide audience.
"We know that pain is subjective and unique to each person's experience. This concept was the driving force behind why Kairos Chronic Pain Coaching does not have a blanket, one-size-fits-all coaching program. Instead, KCPC strives to offer each client with a patient-centered, custom-tailored treatment plan focused in the latest interdisciplinary, evidence-based, holistic, mind-body methodologies for both chronic pain sufferer and affected family members. We believe that by treating both client and family and addressing how chronic pain affects the mental, physical, emotional and spiritual body systems, we can enhance therapeutic reach and ultimately, the outcome." Christina went on to say about her company, which is set to launch on Thursday, August 9, 2018.
Equipped to provide therapy rooted in the family systems theory, better known as the Bowen Theory to clinical practitioners, Christina partnered with the Founder and Clinical Director of Hellenic Therapy Center, Maria Sikoutris-DiIorio, MA, Ed.S., MFT, LPC. Mrs. Sikoutris-DiIorio studied alongside The Bowen Center's best and brightest and uses the Bowen Theory in her private practice. Moreover, Mrs. Sikoutris-DiIorio brings an invaluable perspective on chronic pain- she is the mother of a chronic pain sufferer.
Christina's formal education includes a B.S. in Education and Human Development from Lynchburg College in VA where she proudly graduated with honors. Christina is a member of Kappa Delta Phi, an Honors Society for Education. In the fall of 2017, Christina obtained her Integrative Wellness Life Coaching certification from the Integrative Wellness Academy. Professionally, Christina is a proud member of the Association for Contextual Behavioral Science and is honored to be a Junior Pain Ambassador with the U.S. Pain Foundation. Furthermore, Christina obtained a continuing education certificate of completion for Counseling on Access to Lethal Means (CALM) from The Suicide Prevention Center and, passionately wrote Washington D.C. lawmakers and leaders about the injustices, discrimination, and stigmas of being a chronic pain sufferer in America today.
A Westfield NJ native, Christina is proud to have established her offices in Scotch Plains, NJ.
She currently lives in Central Jersey with the two ultimate loves of her life - a 14-year old Pekingese and a 12-year old Chihuahua. In her free time, Christina enjoys writing, reading, spending time with family and friends, and honoring the remarkable legacy of her father and best friend, Harry James Chororos.

At the heart of the Kairos Chronic Pain Coaching approach, lies a commitment to help our clients let go of the life they exist in so they can successfully create a new life, worth living. Founder, Christina H Chororos is proud to announce a unique chronic pain coaching wellness program that is as unique as your chronic pain.
As suggested by the National Institute of Health, and arguably, the most overlooked, yet most critical component in the treatment of any health problem is providing care for both the family unit and the identified patient. Herein lies the pivotal substratum.
Originated by psychiatrist, Dr. Murray Bowen and founder of the Georgetown University Family Center, the KCPC Wellness Programs use the "family systems theory" as a fundamental guiding principle. Partnering with the Founder and Clinical Director, of Hellenic Therapy Center, Maria Sikoutris-DiIorio, MA, Ed.S., MFT, LPC, who studied alongside The Bowen Center's best and brightest, KCPC developed the groundbreaking program.
By equipping each client and their affected family with an individualized, need-specific treatment plan, that educates, guides and supports life-long pain management and coping techniques, we are able to empower those living with such a formidable, life-altering disease.
Deciding that the present moment is the perfect moment to accept a new normal, "light emerges from dark... in kairos time."
